The City of Surrey is re-launching its annual Earth Day celebrations this year, making the event bigger and better than ever. ‘Party for the Planet‘ will be held at Central City Plaza Friday April 15th and Saturday April 16th, featuring family-friendly edutainment about environmental awareness. Headliners include Spirit of the West, Elmo, and a free zip-line!
A series of areas will be set up to inform citizens about being eco-friendly, including Agriculture Alley, Energy Avenue, Nature Nook, Transportation Trail, Water Way, and Landscape Lane. On-site activities include a straw maze, a Sustainability House, a Compressed Natural Gas truck, a salmon life cycle obstacle course, and a backyard tree sale.
Party for the Planet, organized by the City’s Events Department, is based off the successful WinterFest, held in the same spot in Downtown Surrey. The re-branding will be a significant departure for the annual Earth Day event in the City, which was traditionally relegated to a small festival at Bear Creek Park. Initially planned as a one-day event, Party for the Planet was recently extended to two days following growing interest from the community. The re-launch is intended to help highlight green initiatives underway in Surrey and aid in the general re-branding of the City as a more sustainable community.

Its nice to see the council is starting to realize they gotta take events from else where and put them in central. The more thing to do in central the more it become a true dt area.
Parts of me still kinda want to see them move canada day to holland park. Well i’m sure its not gonna happen can’t blame me for wishing it to happen.
