New City Hall design alternate [pics]

Here’s a new, alternate City Hall design. This option separates City Hall from the adjacent office/commercial tower. The under construction library is at the southwest of City Hall. The other design option can be viewed at this link.

the weird thing is in the booklet thing it shows both designs

I'm not a resident of Surrey, but rather a citizen of Vancouver. Nevertheless, I am interested in how things develop there with regards to the City Centre plans and the plans to develop other parts of Surrey.

But anyway, from comparing the two designs, the former (with the large office tower) stands out the most and would look great as a symbol of the city's growth and future. The separate building design, on the other hand, will just blend in with everything else in the project and will not project as strong a statement.

A city hall should stand out in some way or another. Take Vancouver, with its unmistakable and distinctive Art-Deco white city hall surrounded by medium and high-rise developments. Other city halls in other cities also often stand out for their older architecture.
