According to The Province, a preliminary design for the new City Centre Library was presented to City Council on Monday. The library is being designed by Bing Thom Architects, the firm behind the Central City Tower. Here’s what Council saw:

Very nice! I really like maximizing indoor square footage while minimizing it’s footprint on the ground, making for more open sidewalks.
Hopefully, if integrated well into the overall plan, it could mean a very welcoming space around the building.
It looks a unique state of the art concept. It will be a jewel in the crown of the city.
Hopefully, the design will be meeting the “green building” standards.
Looks good. I hope there will be:
- A bigger or more than one “quiet study room.” The one at Newton Library is inadequate
- Blinds that can be adjusted to control the stream of the sun’s glare.
Hopefully there will be things like windows that allow us to not have interior lights for portions of the day… Albeit without the glare :p
