Surrey wins high praise in Maclean’s Best and Worst Run Cities

Surrey has secured the bronze medal in “Total Efficiency and Effectiveness” in Maclean’s Best and Worst Run Cities survey. The rating system compares 31 Canadian cities in a variety of areas, including crime, transportation, and taxation. The data was compiled for Maclean’s by the Halifax-based Atlantic Institute for Market Studies.

Surrey’s overall efficiency rating was third, but it’s effectiveness rating dropped to eleventh. Here’s the total rankings for Surrey:

  • Governance and Finance: 10
  • Taxation: 10
  • Safety and Protection: 14
  • Transportation: 17
  • Environmental Health: 6
  • Economic Development: 1
  • Recreation and Culture: 3
  • Overall: 3
