Grandview Heights, the controversial and massive master planned community in South Surrey, is slowly beginning to take form. Home to the West Coast’s first Wal-Mart Supercentre, Grandview is also sporting signs of urban innovations, such as two “lifestyle villages” – outdoor malls designed after the traditional main street.

The full build out of Grandview Heights. Current development is occurring in the northwest corner of the area.
Here’s a quick look at some of the developments occurring at 24th Ave and 160th St. Remember, there’s more pictures after the jump!
Grandview Corners – big box stores

Grandview Lifestyle Village – Main St shopping

Note the lighting designed for pedestrians, not cars

Good design here: sidewalk bulges to shorten crosswalk distance, and mini plazas with seating and bollards

Underground parking behind the stores! What I believe all traditional main streets should have as well...

Streets are way too wide though...

At least there's some history in these hills
