As you may have noticed recently, there’s been a lot of construction going on at Holland Park.

Surrey’s first urban park has received a few minor upgrades over the past months, including the Surrey Public Library Grove and a bunch of new benches. However, it’s the major upgrades that are of most interest.
The Phase 2 upgrades, as outlined in the blueprint above include:
- the Holland Park Spirit Square, which extends the square around the central fountain, and also installs an “overhead” feature that will circle the square and can be used to hold lighting and sound equipment.
- New “Holland Gate” entrance near West Whalley Ring Road and Old Yale Road. Will include new raised cement garden beds and seating, as well as a Firefighter statue
- The southwest corner of the park will also receive a new entrance, including raised cement garden beds and a central tree feature. It will also include playful, cast letter blocks, spelling out “Holland Park”
- A new washroom facility, including kitchen and community storage space. It may also be used as a concession stand.
Photos of construction are below.

The new far entrance makes it look like there leaving room for the expansion of West Whalley Ring. Is that possibly why they are also doing this? do they have plans to move that road threw soon? I could have sworn i saw something in report Surrey was going to the federal government for funding of completing the ring road system.
