Christmas events in Surrey

Tree Lighting Ceremony – December 2 from 6pm to 8pm
@ Holland Park [map] – Free

Join Mayor Dianne Watts as she lights up Surrey’s Christmas tree for the holiday season. There will be family activities, the Surrey Children’s Choir, Stilt-artists, face painting, and hot beverages. Please bring your non-perishable food donations for the food bank. 

Santa’s Parade of Lights – December 7 from 6pm to 7pm
@ Downtown Cloverdale [map] – Free

Come on down to historic Cloverdale to see Santa, along with a full parade of holiday floats as they traverse down the Main St. There will be a Tree Lighting Ceremony at Hawthorne Square, and trucks from the parade will be on display afterwards at the Cloverdale Mall site. It is also an excellent opportunity to drop in to the many unique local shops for some Christmas shopping. 

Evening Carol Singing – December 12, 13 from 6:30pm to 8pm
@ Historic Stewart Farm – By donation

Experience how Surrey families made Christmas music together 100 years ago. Sing along to traditional carols with the White Rock Community Choir, and taste festive goodies from the Farmhouse kitchen. 

Winter Wonderland – December 13 from 11am to 5pm
@ North Surrey Rec Centre – Free

Celebrate the Season. Enjoy music, choirs, craft making, swimming, skating, hot chocolate, and goodies. All children under 12 will receive a goodie bag from Frosty!

A Pioneer Christmas – December 13 from 1pm to 3pm
@ Surrey Museum [map] – By donation

Explore Christmas customs from pioneer days, do holiday crafts with your family, view a display of vintage Christmas cards, watch short holiday films, sip some Christmas punch & nibble on treats, and join in an old-fashioned carol sing in the Museum’s gallery. 

The Nutcracker – December 13 at 2:30pm & 7:30 pm, December 14 1pm & 4pm

Celebrating its 20th season, Royal City Youth Ballet Company presents this much loved traditional ballet, with beautiful sets and extravagant costumes that illuminate the magic of the toy soldiers, Sugar Plum Fairy and a growing Christmas tree. Under the artistic direction of Dolores Kirkwood, the cast of talented, dedicated and enthusiastic dancers perform to Tchaikovsky’s classic score with its favourites such as the Waltz of Flowers and Dance of the Mirlitons.

Winter Ice Palace – December 20 to January 4
@ Cloverdale Arena [map] – $3.50 each

The Cloverdale Arena will host the 11th annual Winter Ice Palace. The arena will be transformed into a frozen pond atmosphere that will bring back the good old days. This is a very popular event that the whole family can enjoy. Skate rentals are additional.
