Parks and Rec is holding two open houses very soon. One is for Wickson Point, and the other is for the Fleetwood Community Centre.
Wickson Point
On August 17, 2007, the City of Surrey took possession of 3135 and 3139 Wickson Place. The acquisition provided the two remaining parcels of land necessary to complete the proposed park assembly, Blackie Spit Expansion ~ Wickson Point, to the west of the Crescent Beach pier.
The purpose of the first Open House is to provide the public with an opportunity to review the ideas and suggestions provided by the city and to express their visions for the development of the parkland. Staff will be on hand to receive community input on the important features of Wickson Point and issues that need to be addressed during the planning of the point. This information will help guide the planning and design of the park and the development of plans to be presented at the second open house.

Fleetwood Community Centre
In keeping with the City of Surrey’s campaign to promote active living, the City’s Parks Planning, Research and Design Section has undertaken the planning of park amenities geared towards promoting activity in the Fleetwood Community Centre Open Space. In this “Wellness Park”, there are many opportunities to create amenities for all age groups and opportunities to keep local residents active to an older age through outdoor recreation.
The Parks Recreation and Culture Department is hosting a planning workshop to gather community input for the development of the open space located just south of the Fleetwood Community Centre. The information gathered at this meeting will help guide the planning and design of the open space. Conceptual design plans will be presented at an open house later this fall.
